  • Wendy Buzby (Mezzo-soprano) Wendy Buzby is quickly becoming one of the most in-demand young mezzo-sopranos singing today. Her recent engagements include: the title role in a premier preview workshop with the San Francisco Opera in Mark Adamo's The Gospel of Mary Magdalen, Flora in La Traviata with Opera San Jose, Mary in Der fliegnde Höllander, Dido in Dido and Aeneas with Bay Are Classical Harmonies, the Sandman in Hansel and Gretel with Syracuse Opera (a role for which she was awarded Artist of the Year in 2010), Dorabella in Così fan tutte with Opera Colorado, Tisbe with Opera Fairbanks in Rossini's La Cenerentola, and Cherubino in La nozze di Figaro with the Ash Lawn Opera Festival.
  • Other roles in Ms. Buzby's repertoire include Mrs. Patrick DeRocher and Jade Boucher from Jake Heggie's Dead Man Walking; Orfeo in Orfeo ed Euridice; Hansel in Hansel and Gretel; Angelina in La Cenerentola; Dritte Dame in Die Zauberflöte; the Forester's Wife and the Owl in The Cunning Little Vixen; and Shirley in her New York City debut in the world premiere of David Chesky's The Pig, The Farmer, and The Artist at the Gene Frankel Theatre. Ms. Buzby is looking forward to her upcoming engagements with Opera San Jose as the Monitress in Suor Angelica; as Doreblla in Così fan tutte with The Muses Creative Artistry Project in Hot Springs, AR; and as a professional chorister with the San Francisco Symphony in their 2012-13 season. A winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions for the San Francisco Region in 2011, Ms. Buzby has met with great opportunity and success in the Bay Area where she currently resides, teaching privately as
    well as with San Francisco's all-kids' Opera Company, Little Opera, and is delving into the world of agroecology. Ms. Buzby holds a Master’s degree in vocal performance from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a Bachelor of Music from Northwestern University in Illinois.
